February 28, 1971 - August 23, 1994

Ricky was an exciting part of the family from the day he was born on February 28th, 1971. At age 5, Rick had competed and won many BMX Bicycle races and at ages 8-18 his passions were baseball and soccer. After high school, Rick started at UNR where he joined the boxing team with greater passion than any other interest he ever had in the past. Using boxing as his mental and physical release, he completed three of his four years at UNR. In his Sophomore year he broke his hand in a sparring match and was not able to compete that year, however, the following year, his Junior year, Rick told his friends and family that he was going to be the National Champion that year. As it turns out, he achieved that goal, and also managed to earn a second National Championship title in his senior year.

After College Rick went to Sacramento where he started work for U.S. Tobacco Co., and while there, he went to bartending school. His future dream was to open and run his own sports bar & grill which was in negotiation when he was tragically killed on his motorcycle on McCarran Boulevard in Reno, on August 23, 1994. Rick was 23 years old at the time.

One thing is for certain, if you knew Ricky, you knew that he lived every single day of his life to the fullest. He left us all with many great memories, and incredible tales of both triumph and tragedy. It is in the honor of Ricky and Ryan that the RJ Memorial Foundation was created.
